While visiting, take advantage of the Palace Hotel’s convenient location. Here are a few recommendations:

Union Square San Francisco

Walk to Union Square from the hotel and explore hundreds of shops and restaurants, performing arts theatres, clubs and lounges, and the open-air Union Square itself.

Westfield San Francisco Centre

Located two blocks from Union Square; the Westfield San Francisco Centre features over 170 stores and boutiques, including Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s.

San Francisco Cable Cars

San Francisco cable cars will carry you back in time. Stops are located throughout San Francisco. Take a scenic tour along the Powel Street route starting at Market Street near Union Square and ending at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Fisherman’s Wharf 

The Fisherman’s Wharf area includes souvenir shopping at Pier 39, nightlife, Ghirardelli Square, the Aquarium of the Bay, and the promenade, where you can try a San Francisco sourdough bread bowl of steaming clam chowder.

Golden Gate Bridge

A must-see, either from a bayside vantage point or by walking or biking the 1.7-mile span for amazing views of the Bay.

Ferry Building Marketplace

Browse the aisles of artisan foods and locally produced gourmet products at the Ferry Building Marketplace in the Embarcadero.

de Young Museum

Located in Golden Gate Park, the de Young Museum boasts an extensive collection of impressive works, with a heavy concentration in American art.

Alcatraz Island 

Tour the infamous prison, or take a nature stroll the Island itself and enjoy bird watching and other natural attractions. Access to Alcatraz Island is by private ferry only; advance reservations are highly recommended.
